Artecanter – Indústria Criativa, Lda is a company of prestige in the art of stone working. Based in Atães, it owes its birth to the entrepreneurial spirit of two young businessmen, Joaquim Dinis Novais Ribeiro and Abílio Martinho whom, with a capital of 5’000 €, decided to combine their joint experience and wisdom in the art of transforming stone.
Arcanter directs its activity mainly to stone working, the production of ornaments and sepulchres and to restoration. However, it has gradually diversified its range of operations to the extraction of ornamental rocks, earth levelling (earth movement and rock fragmentation), building construction and public works and to the laying of stone works, as well as to areas of artistic character: sculpture (utilising different materials: granite, marble, slate, wood and iron), the production and edition of audiovisual works, and to the performing arts: concerts, book launches and other events.
As a consequence of its growth, dynamism and stability in 2006 Artecanter sees its capital increased to 50.000 €, a figure that stands till this day.
The region of Guimarães is known for the exceptional quality of its granites, as well as for the proficiency in the art of transforming them which, combined with a balanced exploration and transformation, situates its derivative products amongst the best in Europe.
With 15 years of existence, Artecanter already distributes all the quality of its products throughout Portugal – from North to South – having also conquered the international marker, France in particular.
